On this page, you will find the most common breeds, grouped by size, coat, and weight. This is simply a guide to help our customers determine which category their pet falls into.

Great Dane (German Mastiff): Its coat is short, smooth, and dense. Colors: Fawn, brindle, blue, black, and harlequin. Males: Can exceed 80-90 cm in height and weigh between 54-90 kg. Females: Typically measure between 71-81 cm and weigh between 45-59 kg.

English Mastiff: Its coat is short, dense, and harsh, commonly fawn, apricot, or brindle, always with a black mask on the muzzle and eyes. They typically measure between 70 and 90 cm at the withers. The weight of adult males generally ranges between 75 and 100 kg, making it one of the most massive breeds.

Saint Bernard: Weighing up to 80 kg or more, with a double, dense, and thick coat designed for the alpine cold. They exist in short-haired (smooth and close-lying) and long-haired (medium length, slightly wavy) varieties.

Newfoundland: Their weight typically exceeds 70 kg. Coat: Dense, long, and water-resistant, with an oily outer layer. Colors: Generally black, although they also exist in brown (chocolate), gray, and black and white (Landseer).

Irish Wolfhound: Males typically measure between 81-86 cm and weigh between 54-70 kg, and females between 48-61 kg. Their coat is harsh, hard, and dense, protecting them from the weather. Colors include gray, brindle, red, black, white, or fawn.

Leonberger: This is a large breed. Males weigh between 45 and 77 kg, and females between 41 and 59 kg, with heights ranging from 65 to 80 cm at the withers. Coat and Color: They have a long, dense, and water-resistant coat with a soft undercoat. The color varies from sandy fawn to brown, always with a characteristic black mask on the face.

Tibetan Mastiff: This is a giant breed of dog. Males typically measure between 66-81 cm and weigh between 68-82 kg (and can weigh more). Coat: Double-layered, dense, and long, designed for extreme climates, with a prominent mane on the neck and shoulders (lion-like appearance).

Neapolitan Mastiff: Males measure 65-75 cm and weigh 60-70 kg; females 60-68 cm and 50-60 kg. Coat: Short, dense, and harsh. Common colors: gray (blue), black, lead gray, Brindle, Isabella, or mahogany.

Dogue de Bordeaux: They are robust and muscular, with males weighing at least 50 kg and females 45 kg. Coat and Color: Fine, short, and smooth fur in fawn tones (from dark mahogany to light Isabella). They may have a black or brown mask.

Spanish Mastiff: Their weight is usually between 50-100 kg, and their height exceeds 70-85 cm. Coat: Medium-length, thick, and resistant, ideal for extreme climates. Colors: Generally solid colors such as yellow, fawn, red, black, wolf, or deer, as well as combinations.

Labrador Retriever: Typically weighs between 25 and 36 kg. Size/Weight: Height 55-63 cm at the withers. Weights of 29-36 kg (males) and 25-32 kg (females). Coat: Double coat, dense, short, and water-resistant.

German Shepherd: Reaches between 55-70 cm in height at the withers and weighs between 25-45 kg (males are usually larger). Coat: Double coat (coarse outer coat and soft undercoat) of medium length. Common colors include black, tan, black and tan, and gray.

Golden Retriever: Coat: Double coat, dense and water-resistant, in light to dark golden tones. Size: Males: 56-61 cm tall and 30-35 kg in weight. Females: 51-56 cm tall and 25-30 kg in weight.

Rottweiler: These are large, compact dogs. Males typically weigh around 50 kg and measure between 61 and 68 cm, while females weigh around 42 kg and measure between 60 and 63 cm. Structure: Muscular and strong body, with a broad head and deep muzzle. Coat and Color: Short, harsh, and dense coat, black with well-defined tan (mahogany) markings.

Doberman Pinscher: Males are 68–72 cm and females 63–68 cm. Coat: Short, smooth, dense, and glossy. The official colors are black or brown with well-defined tan markings.

Bernese Mountain Dog: Males measure between 64–70 cm and females 58–66 cm at the withers. Their weight ranges from 35 to 55 kg. Coat: Long, dense, and tricolor: black base, with white markings on the chest/muzzle and tan (reddish-brown) markings above the eyes and on the paws.

Siberian Husky: Weighs between 20-27 kg and stands 50-60 cm tall. Coat: A thick double coat that protects them from extreme cold, requiring frequent brushing, especially during shedding season.

Dalmatian: Medium to large in size, 56-61 cm tall and weighing 20-40 kg, they have a short, dense, and harsh coat, generally white with black or brown (liver) spots. They are born white and develop their spots during the first few weeks of life.

Boxer: Males stand between 57-63 cm tall and weigh 30-36 kg; females stand between 53-59 cm tall and weigh 25-32 kg. Coat: Short, smooth, glossy, and fawn or brindle, with or without white markings.

Beagle: Standing 30 to 40 cm tall. Weight: Approximately 9 to 14 kg. Coat: Short and dense, commonly tricolor (black, tan, and white) or bicolor (white and tan/lemon).

Border Collie: Males typically stand up to 56 cm tall and weigh 20 kg, while females are slightly smaller. Coat: Dense coat, which can be long or short (“smooth”), with a variety of colors (black and white, red, merle, etc.).

English Cocker Spaniel: Standing 38-41 cm tall for males and 34-39 cm tall for females. Weight: Generally between 12 and 16 kg. Coat: Smooth or slightly curly, with feathering on the legs and chest.

Standard Schnauzer: Standing approximately 47-49.5 cm tall at the withers. Weight: Generally between 15.9 and 22.7 kg. Coat: Double coat: dense undercoat and wiry (coarse) topcoat, requiring frequent brushing.

Basset Hound: They weigh between 18 and 30 kg and measure between 33 and 38 cm. They have short, dense, and soft hair, generally tricolor or bicolor. Colors: Commonly tricolor (black, white, and tan) or bicolor (lemon and white, or red and white).

Shar Pei: Coat: With a height between 44 and 51 cm and a weight between 18 and 30 kg. Their hair is short and rough to the touch (their name means “sand skin”).

Australian Shepherd: With a height between 46 and 58 cm and a weight between 16 and 32 kg. Coat: Smooth or slightly wavy, dense, and resistant to extreme climates. Colors: Blue merle, red merle, solid black, solid red, often with white or tan markings

Whippet: Males stand 47-51 cm tall, and females 44-47 cm tall. Weight: Generally 10-15 kg. Coat: Short, fine, and close-lying, with a wide variety of colors.

English Bulldog: Generally weighs 18-25 kg and stands approximately 30-40 cm tall. Their coat is very short, smooth, fine, and soft to the touch.

German Shorthaired Pointer: Males stand 60-67 cm tall, and females 55-62 cm tall. Weight: Males 25-32 kg, and females 20-27 kg. Coat: Short, dense, harsh, and water-resistant. Colors: Solid liver, brown with white markings, roan, or white with tan markings.

Shiba Inu: Males stand 35-43 cm tall, while females stand 33-41 cm tall. Their average weight ranges from 8-11 kg, with females being lighter than males. They have a double coat: a hard, straight outer coat and a soft, dense inner coat. Common colors include red, black and tan, cream, and sesame.

Shih Tzu: They measure between 20 and 30 cm at the shoulder and usually weigh between 5 and 10 kg. Coat: Lush, long, and smooth. It can be found in a wide variety of colors (such as tricolor, black, and white)

Bichon Frise: These are small, compact dogs. They measure between 23 cm and 28 cm in height and weigh between 3 kg and 6 kg. Coat: Their coat is double. The undercoat is soft and dense, while the outer coat forms curls or ringlets. The official standard usually requires them to be pure white, although some breeds allow light cream or apricot tones in their puppy stage.

Dachshund (Teckel): They come in Standard (16–32 lbs) and Miniature (under 11 lbs) sizes. In Europe, a third, even smaller “Rabbit” (Kaninchen) size is also recognized. Coat Types: They feature three distinct coat variations: Smooth: Short, sleek, and shiny. Long-haired: Silky, flowing coat with feathering on the legs and ears. Wire-haired: The most common variety in Germany, featuring a thick, harsh coat. with a distinct beard and eyebrows

Miniature Schnauzer: Standing just 12 to 14 inches tall and weighing 11 to 20 pounds, they have confident, sometimes feisty personalities. They feature a dense, wiry double coat and human-like eyes framed by prominent eyebrows and long beards.

Boston Terrier: Size and Weight: They measure between 38 and 43 cm at the withers. They are classified by weight: light (less than 6.8 kg), medium (6.8 to 9.1 kg), and heavy (9.1 to 11.5 kg). Coat: Short, smooth, and glossy. Their characteristic bicolor pattern resembles a tuxedo (brindle or black with white markings).

Pug: Size and Weight: They measure around 25 to 33 cm tall at the withers and weigh between 6 and 8 kg. The Pug’s coat is short, smooth, soft, and glossy. It has a double coat that, although dense, requires standard maintenance care.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel: Size and Weight: They stand between 30 and 33 cm tall at the withers and weigh between 5.5 and 8 kg. Coat: This is one of their most distinctive features: long, silky, and with slight waves. They have long feathering on their ears, chest, legs, and tail.

Jack Russell Terrier: Size and Weight: They stand between 25 and 38 cm tall and weigh approximately 6 to 8 kg. Coat: It can be smooth, wiry, or medium-textured. Their coat is usually predominantly white with black, tan, or both markings (tricolor).

Chihuahua: Their weight ranges from 1 kg to 3 kg, and their height is between 15 cm and 25 cm. There are two coat varieties: smooth/short and long.

Pomeranian: These are miniature dogs that weigh between 1.5 kg and 3.5 kg and measure only between 18 cm and 22 cm in height. Coat: They have a dense double coat (a short undercoat and a long outer coat) that gives them the appearance of a “ball of fur” or “miniature fox.”

Yorkshire Terrier: Size: These are miniature dogs that usually measure between 15 and 23 cm at the withers. Coat: This is their most distinctive feature. They have straight, fine, and shiny hair, similar to human hair.

Toy or Miniature Poodle: Height and Weight: They measure between 24 and 28 centimeters at the withers and their weight ranges between 2 and 4.5 kilograms. Coat: It is abundant, curly, dense, and has a texture similar to cotton. They don’t shed, which makes them excellent for people with allergies.

Maltese: Weight and Size: They weigh between 3 and 4 kg and are usually between 20 and 25 cm tall. Their coat is straight, fine, dense, and extremely silky to the touch.
